Elizabeth McAlpine is a trainee solicitor within Livingstone Brown’s Specialist Litigation Department based in the Glasgow city office. She joined the firm in November 2023, and has extensive experience in client-facing jobs, including as a paralegal in another Glasgow criminal defence firm.
Elizabeth obtained a 2:1 Master of Arts Joint Honours degree in Geography and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen, where she expressed interests in human rights, international security and Middle Eastern politics. She also pursued charitable efforts, arranging a charity ball as social secretary for the Aberdeen University Geography Society, and as a member of UNICEF on Campus.
Elizabeth is also a graduate of the University of Glasgow, having obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) degree with Distinction, and completing her Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice with Merit. During her time at university, she was recognised in 2022 as the most distinguished LLB student from her local area of Renfrewshire, and was accepted to the Faculty of Advocates Mini Devilling Scheme 2023. In her role as a Mini-Devil, Elizabeth shadowed counsel and gained first-hand experience of complex and high-profile criminal and civil disputes, including a public inquiry.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys keeping active at Pilates and spin classes, and socialising with friends and family.
