Case Study - HMA v. B

A professional client was charged with embezzlement.  During his police interview reference was made to a large number of documents, including emails, company accounts and business records.  Detailed records of the interview allowed the client to assemble a duplicate brief, which then enabled critical analysis of the police case. 

Stuart Munro, assisted by counsel, prepared detailed representations to the Crown. The Crown eventually agreed that the representations were well-founded and that there was insufficient evidence to justify proceedings.

This case is an example of the firm’s early intervention approach, leading to the discontinuation of proceedings before they came into the public domain, saving the client anxiety, reputational damage and considerable cost.
